Trolls: World Tour is more akin to an above average children's backyard performer. With a few moments of effective comedy, interesting visual design, and genuinely important message its a good movie for parents to put on for their kids. As for adults, you may enjoy a few comedic and musical moments but it won't be a memorable movie.

The plot follows Poppy (Anna Kendrick), new queen of the Pop music trolls, and Branch (Justin Timberlack) as they face the discovery that there are other music trolls. With the Queen of Rock, Barb (Rachel Bloom), threatening to steal each music trolls respected string that gives them their music, Poppy drags Branch off on an adventure to unite all the trolls.

There really isn't much to say about Trolls: World Tour. The arts and crafts visual design is appealing but not profound. The voice acting is passable with Anna Kendrick being an adorable lead. The music performances have a mixed variety of bland to fun, but there are some groaners among them (I'm looking at you Crazy Train).

Two things can say about Trolls is the midpoint reveal and the message of the movie. The reveal is not shocking but is still a refreshing twist. As for the movies message of differences of identity, characteristics and culture can be important positives for society is a grand message for a children's movie. It teaches kids that uniting under a blind similarity even if positive can remove individuality or unique perspectives. That people should celebrate the differences and commonalities they have.

Overall, Trolls: World Tour is a good movie to throw on for kids with a great message and occasionally a quality musical number. As for adult, you won't have lost your evening however this is not a movie you will remember.

5.5/10 - Josh
